Sussex County ranked second among counties in Delaware by annual earnings per resident, according to data obtained from the U.S. Census Bureau.

The median income of Sussex County residents was $31,752 per year, adjusted for inflation. It had 91,697 households with a population of 224,384.

The county with the highest median resident income in the state was New Castle County with $36,458 per year after adjusting for inflation – $4,706 more than Sussex County. It had 205,829 households with a population of 556,165.

The county with the lowest median resident income in the state was Kent County with $30,327 per year after adjusting for inflation – $1,425 less than Sussex County. It had 65,796 households with a population of 176,699.
