Sussex County ranked second among counties in Delaware by annual earnings per resident, according to data obtained from the U.S. Census Bureau.

The median income of Sussex County residents was $31,009 per year, adjusted for inflation. It had 89,365 households with a population of 219,540.

The county with the highest median resident income in the state was New Castle County with $34,768 per year after adjusting for inflation – $3,759 more than Sussex County. It had 203,855 households with a population of 555,133.

The county with the lowest median resident income in the state was Kent County with $29,575 per year after adjusting for inflation – $1,434 less than Sussex County. It had 64,545 households with a population of 174,822.
