An annexation election will be held on Saturday, September 24, 2022 at the Ellendale Town Hall from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm to approve the annexation of approximately 151.03 acres of land owned by Liborio‐Ellendale LLC into the Town of Ellendale. The property is identified as tax parcels 230‐26.00‐115.00, 230‐26.00‐115.04, 230‐26.00‐122.00, 230‐31.00‐31.00, 230‐31.00‐34.00, and all subdivided lots for the development known as Newdale Acres in a deed recorded with the Sussex County Recorder of Deeds in Book 4200 on Page 89 for Liborio‐Ellendale LLC. The property is located west of South Old State Road, south of Sharons Road, east of DuPont Boulevard, and north of Gravelly Branch. The property is currently zoned MR (Medium Residential) in Sussex County. The proposed zoning is a mix of R‐3 (General and Multifamily Residential Use District) and C‐3 (Highway Commercial). The annexation category according to the Ellendale’s 2020 Comprehensive Plan is Phase 1 and the land use designation is a mixture of Residential and Commercial.
Any person residing within the existing municipal limits who would be entitled to vote at the annual town election, and any person residing in the area proposed to be annexed who would be entitled to vote at the annual town election if the area proposed to be annexed was already included in the town, shall be entitled to one vote. In addition, each legal entity or natural person holding record title in its own name to lands located within the existing municipal limits or in the territory proposed to be annexed, shall be entitled to one vote. All persons appearing to vote shall be required to provide satisfactory proof of identity and of their property ownership or residency.
